Applying paint onto canvas is a very natural act of many visual artists. In both canvas-based paintings and digital paintings, artists constantly think and play with visual effect that the chosen color scheme can deliver. During coloring, it is essential to balance the whole image by choosing the color scheme for the whole artwork, rather than focusing on a small part of the artwork.
Scribbling-styled drawings are mainly formed by hand sketched irregular lines. Coloring each closed region of such drawings will create stain-glass-like effect. However, since manually coloring the scribbling-style drawings are extremely time-consuming and labor, it is tempting to concentrate on details of the artwork and forget the balance of whole image. To reinforce the coloring rules for scribbling-styled drawings, I experimented with automatic coloring using python. With the python script that automatically colors scribble-style svg images, artists can customize the color scheme and play with the dream-like effect that scribble-style art can offer.
The paper was invited for CAC.5. in Paris, I missed the conference because of time confliction with INFOVIS presentation.
