Replication of the dot connection algorithm
Take me to the art!
I replicated the famous and common dot connecting algorithm. I am not sure about the official name for this algorithm, but I think I first read it in the Processing tutorial book: Processing: A Programming Handbook for Visual Designers and Artists by Casey Reas. The algorithm does the following things:
1. It randomly place dots on the canvas. 2. For every dot, connect it to other dots if they sit within a certain radius.
It's a simple algorithm to write but the result is quite rewarding. I have seen artists animate this algorithm, which looks pretty good as well.
Here are some examples to look through. You can click here to view the live system . Refreshing the page will give you a new design. It is possible to see a blank page because of the random color and stroke setting. Just refresh the page!
